. Established in 1925 and located for a long time in non-adapted localities, it took several years for Dr. Toufic Ibrahim Rizk to gather the necessary funds in order to build his own hospital. Therefore, he decided to construct it on the hill of Achrafieh.
. In 1953 , he entrusted a French-Swiss Company "CIET", specialized in hospital constructions, with the task of elaborating the first building blueprints.
. At the age of 62, in 1954 , Dr. Toufic Rizk finally achieved his dream with the placement of the first stone of his new hospital.
. On February 11, 1957 , Dr. Rizk Clinic is finally inaugurated with the opening of the 1st Building (A), built according to European standards. As such, it became one of the first modern hospitals in Beirut and in all Lebanon
. In 1987 , despite internal tensions and the geographic situation of the Clinic on the demarcation green line, a 2nd Building (B) was inaugurated, in response to the following needs: a greater technico-medical division with the equipment of new laboratories as well as a large department for Medical Imaging, and an increase in the accommodation capacity of the hospital from 70 beds to 130 beds. |
. Ten years later, in 1997 , an expansion project was implemented with the construction of two other buildings (C) and (D), whose objective was to increase even more our bed capacity with a better distribution of our various activities within the hospital.
During the same year, an underground parking of 10,000 m2, i.e. 350 places, accessible to the public was inaugurated.
. In 2002 , a Heliport (located on the terrace of Building D) was made operational; giving quick access to the Emergency Unit, the Intensive Care Units and Operating Rooms in less than a minute!
A new extension is programmed for the year 2008 with the construction of a 5th Building (E).
This shall be particularly dedicated to the activity of « Health Tourism»
