Education/Diploma/Certification:
Registered Nurse licensure, Bachelor’s Degree is preferred
Work Experience:
Previous clinical experience is preferred

• Obtain appropriate sterile and unsterile items needed for procedure.
• Make sure theater is clean.
• Check all equipment for proper functioning.
• Open sterile supplies.
• Work side by side with scrub nurses to help maintain the sterile field in the operating room.
• Check patient’s chart, identify patient, verify surgery to be performed with consent forms, and bring patient to assigned operating room.
• Transfer patient to operating room table.
• Assess comfort and safety measures and provides verbal and tactile reassurance to the patient.
• Assist anesthesia personnel.
• Position patient, using appropriate equipment.
• Perform urinary catheterization when necessary.
• Prepare the patient’s skin prior to draping by surgical team.
• Perform appropriate counts with scrub person.
• Anticipate additional supplies needed during the procedure.
• Keep accurate records throughout the procedure.
• Properly care for specimens.
• Secure dressings after incision closure.
• Help transport patient to recovery room.
• Assist in cleaning of room and preparing for next patient.
