• A qualified candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in nursing or a related clinical or allied health field. A Masters in Public Health, Health Administration, Health Management, or equivalent is preferred.
• A minimum of 3 years clinical nursing experience in an acute-care hospital is a plus
• Sufficient knowledge of hospital clinical operations, activities and functions.
• A minimum of 3 years work experience in Patient Safety, Quality Management, Risk Management, or other relevant work experience.
• Knowledge of JCI and Lebanese Ministry of Public Health accreditation standards related to Patient Safety and Risk Management is a plus
• Knowledge of patient safety principles, concepts, strategies, methodology and tools.
• Problem solving and solution development, data collection, data analysis, and root cause analysis (RCA), and Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA).

Required Skills: 

• Excellent presentation and communication skills
• Excellent verbal and written English language skills.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Access.

Responsibilities and Duties: 

1. Oversee the hospital’s patient safety program.
2. Working with the Risk Management Supervisor ensures continuous compliance with all JCI and MOPH patient safety and risk management accreditation criteria.
3. Ensures that policies and procedures pertinent to patient safety exist, are current, implemented, and properly followed.
4. Facilitates and coordinates with the Risk Management Supervisor the Patient Safety and Risk Management Committee.
5. Educates hospital employees and staff on patient safety principles, strategy, methodology, and. activities,
6. Designs and implements educational and training programs that facilitate the understanding and implementation of patient safety standards within the hospital.
7. Serves as a subject matter expert for clinical departments on patient safety matters.
8. Reports on the occurrence of known medical and health care errors and identified near misses and dangerous conditions within the hospital including actions taken either proactively or in response to an incident.
9. Oversees the effective and efficient functioning of the hospital’s adverse event reporting system.
10. Together with the Risk Management Supervisor ensures that the adverse event/incident reporting and resolution system collects and maintains all pertinent data to facilitate risk assessment, analysis, evaluation and corrective action and follow up.
11. Oversees the conduct of an annual hospital-wide patient safety audit.
12. Project manages initiatives and action plans to solve identified problems.
13. Develops an annual patient safety plan that meets standards established by accreditation authorities.
